Jewelry Care

Your Gurls Treasures jewelry deserves a little extra care. Proper cleaning, storage, and handling can help preserve its shine and beauty for longer.

General Care

  • Remove jewelry before showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping.

  • Avoid exposing jewelry to water, perfume, lotion, hairspray, household cleaners, and other chemicals.

  • Apply beauty products and fragrances before putting on your jewelry.

  • Remove rings and bracelets before washing your hands, cleaning, or performing activities that could scratch or damage them.

  • Handle delicate chains, clasps, charms, and stones carefully.

  • Do not pull, bend, or place heavy objects on your jewelry.

Cleaning Your Jewelry

After wearing your jewelry, gently wipe it with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth to remove oils, perspiration, and residue.

Avoid abrasive cleaners, polishing compounds, brushes, paper towels, and harsh jewelry dips unless the product manufacturer specifically recommends them for that material.

Gold-Plated Jewelry

Gold-plated jewelry has a layer of gold applied over a base metal. This layer may gradually wear depending on frequency of use, exposure to moisture and chemicals, storage, and personal body chemistry.

To help preserve the finish:

  • Keep gold-plated jewelry dry.

  • Avoid repeated rubbing and friction.

  • Do not use abrasive polishing cloths or chemical cleaners.

  • Wipe gently after each use.

  • Store each piece separately.

Gold-Filled Jewelry

Gold-filled jewelry generally has a thicker layer of gold than gold-plated jewelry, but it still benefits from proper care.

Clean it gently with a soft cloth and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, chemicals, chlorine, salt water, and beauty products.

Sterling Silver Jewelry

Sterling silver may naturally tarnish when exposed to air, moisture, and certain chemicals.

Store sterling silver in a dry, enclosed pouch when it is not being worn. Gently polish it with a cloth made specifically for sterling silver. Avoid using silver polish on plated pieces, gemstones, pearls, or delicate finishes.

Cubic Zirconia and Gemstone Jewelry

To preserve the sparkle of stones:

  • Avoid dropping or striking the jewelry against hard surfaces.

  • Keep stones away from lotions, oils, perfumes, and cleaning products.

  • Gently wipe them with a soft, dry cloth.

  • Do not soak stone jewelry unless the product’s care instructions specifically permit it.

Proper Storage

Store jewelry in a clean, cool, and dry location away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Keep each piece in its own soft pouch, jewelry box compartment, or protective bag to prevent scratching, tangling, and rubbing. Fasten chains and clasps before storing them to help prevent knots.

Important Notice

The lifespan of jewelry depends on its material, how often it is worn, personal body chemistry, environmental exposure, and how it is cared for.

Unless specifically stated in the individual product description, jewelry should not be considered waterproof, tarnish-free, or suitable for continuous wear.

If you have a known metal allergy or skin sensitivity, carefully review the product materials before purchasing or wearing the jewelry. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
